Athelhampton House and Gardens: Athelhampton House and its estate and gardens have been in private ownership for over five hundred years. We thank you for your interest which will help to ensure that Athelhampton will continue to flourish.
The House has been owned by the Cooke family for three generations Patrick & Andrea Cooke now run Athelhampton and they have managed much of the restoration and improvement you see today.
Much of the heraldic glass in the windows dates from this time, or reproduces the original The linenfold panelling in the Hall is of a delicsate design and the screen has unusually longpanels The screen would have separated the medieval hall from the service wing.
The enbattled entrance from the road has quatrefoil openings that echo those in the 15th century porch. The arched entrance by the gate has to its right one of the tall garden pavillions that terminate the terrace. The reed thached Coach House to the left are in sharp contrast.
Athelhampton opens all year round. Our high season from March to October we open every day except Fridays and Saturdays. During the Winter, November to February we open on Sundays only. The House opens at 11. 00am each day and last admissions are at 4. 30pm or Dusk if earlier.
