Success came in the 1960s with 'Beatles mania' and he continues writing after their split whilst forming and playing with the band 'Wings' through the 70s until 1981.
He has earned 60 gold disks and sold 100 million singles in the UK.
McCartney also is an advocate of vegetarianism, animal rights, music education and campaigns against landmines, world debt and seal hunting.
