Nspcc Country House Car Boot: The biennial, upmarket car boot sale aims to raise money for the NSPCC with the landed gentry of the Cotswolds and beyond selling their heirlooms and possessions to members of the public. Held in the exquisite setting of National Trust Lodge Park, the scene is set for a high class day out for all the family and for anyone looking for unusual items and potential antique finds.
Previous events have seen items donated by high profile celebrities including Orlando Bloom, Lewis Hamilton and Elle Macpherson. The last event saw David Camerons cycle helmet sell for 1,200 and a seascape oil painting purchased at the car boot for just 5, sell for a handsome 500 soon after, at a nearby antique market.
The lodge will be open to visitors throughout the day, and the National Trust will organise a woodland walk and bulb planting session for children. Onsite refreshments will be made available by local organic producers and the National Trust microbrewery. There will be a farmers market with other carefully selected stalls offering the finest produce and stock at discount prices. The events main sponsor is Citro?UK and the support sponsor is Moore Allen and Innocent.
NSPCC fundraising manager, Patrick Weaver says The Country House Car Boot Sale, run by the Cotswolds branch of the NSPCC, has firmly established its place in the Gloucestershire social calendar. In 2008, over 30,000 was raised and it attracted over 5000 visitors - we expect an even bigger crowd this year. There will be lots of opportunities to pick up a bargain including fabulous quality designer clothing - all in aid of the NSPCCs South West Childs Voice Appeal.
