The Merry Wives of Windsor Theatre & Performing Arts

The Festival Players present Shakespeare's wonderful comedy in an atmospheric Medieval Barn.

The story of The Merry Wives of Windsor centres on Falstaff, the ‘Fat Knight’ from Henry IV who is a glorious figure of fun and one of Shakespeare’s most beloved creations. Falstaff is boisterous, lively, cowardly and funny, but is also a scoundrel and occasionally a thief. Down on his luck and staying in Windsor, the roguish and foolish Falstaff plans to seduce two married women to get his hands on their husbands’ money. However, the wiley wives of Windsor prove more than a match for him in this hilarious comedy. A small cast of six male actors play multiple roles, as well as performing as singers and musicians, just as would have been the case in Shakespeare's day. It will be directed by Michael Dyer, former director of Cornwall’s Minack Open Air Theatre. The music has been specially written for The Merry Wives of Windsor by Gloucestershire-based folk star Johnny Coppin.
Drinks will be on sale before the performance and during the interval. Free parking available.
The gates will open from 5.30pm for visitors to bring a picnic to enjoy in the grounds before the performance in the Barn.
Tickets online from https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/date/GHKEIF or in person from Daisy’s Coffee Shop, Winterbourne, or on the gate if there are any left.
