Ronnie Scott's presents ... EZRA COLLECTIVE, one of the groups "pioneering the new-wave of UK jazz music" (Boilerroom.tv) at the Islington Assembly Hall during the EFG London Jazz Festival. Support tonight will come from rising stars London-based Afrobeat 7-piece KOKOROKO plus DJ set from THRIS TIAN, respected Brownswood/Worldwide.fm music selector and one of the original architects of Boilerroom.tvHailed as "one of the groups pioneering the new-wave of UK jazz music" by Boiler Room, Ezra Collective is the award-winning band born out of Tomorrows Warriors. They have worked with the likes of rappers Pharoahe Monch and Ty as well as opening for jazz legend Terence Blanchard and sellout headline shows at Ronnie Scott’s earlier this year (including rave reviews for the live webstream of the show). Their powerful music is marked by the strong influence of Afro Beat, Reggae and Hip Hop brought together through a deep understanding of jazz to create their own unique sound. Their first EP ‘Chapter 7’ garnered glowing reviews, and this their only London date in 2017 for the launch of their new EP "Juan Pablo The Philosopher", so expect new material performed with all the ferocious energy that this group has become renowned for.
A review of their latest single ‘Space is the Place’ said this "this radical overhaul retains the spirit of the original while blasting it into a UK-centric vision of the future. Quietly inspiring, the stunning musicianship is allied to that innate sense of groove that Ezra Collective specialise in.” CLASH MAGAZINE
