For Black History Month 2017 The London Borough of Enfield have partnered with MIHO (Make It Happen Organisation) to deliver a small program
South African Night of CelebrationMon 9 Oct, 6.30pm
To open the program of events for BHM, we have a special evening of entertainment, including talks, SA food and wine with a display of SA Art. Working with the Maluju Charity.
Attended by dignitaries from the SA High Commission, with talks by Mr John Young (Anglo-Zulu wars Historian) about Enfield’s local connections with the history of SA including famous Enfield residents & locations.
Mr Jabu Sibeko (Chairman of the ANC UK)- this year would be the 100th birthday of Oliver Tambo -South African anti-apartheid politician and revolutionary who served as President of the African National Congress (ANC) from 1967 to 1991. Mr Sibeko will give an Anti Apartheid tribute and brief the audience about those who supported the ANC and London boroughs who fought against apartheid in South Africa.
30 Years of BHM UK

This is a special year as it is the 30th anniversary of Black History Month in the UK, come and celebrate this milestone with us.
With special guest speakers including one of the founders of UK BHM, pioneer and entrepreneur Mr Joe Douglas, the founder of the UK’s first legally owned radio station. With music by other pioneers Ginger Williams & Wayne Marshall. Plus a performance by Victor Richards, from his play ‘Streets Paved With Gold’ which forms part of the Seventy Years of Windrush Anniversary tour for 2018
An Evening with Charlie Parker
Weds 11 Oct, 6.30pm
Do not miss this opportunity to hear this legend share images and history from his photographic presentation of the last 50 years of black history in London. Full of knowledge and humour, in this intimate interview, Charlie will share his unique stories of himself, normal Londoners, black politicians and black celebrities.
His archive contains unique photos documenting places as well as events that have helped shape London and Londoners, such as the Notting Hill Carnival.
With music from a local Steel Pan Band.
