FREE ENTRY 6-11PM Part of Hackney WickED DIY Open Studios 2017The Coconut Jam Session features the band Three Soundman and A Bassist, and Selectors from the Black Cat Sound System of Fish Island. Strickly roots and culture vibrations with at least 50% improvised content.
The jam is open to all musicians who love roots music. Please contact Grow if you wish to join in or just approach them on the day. The Coconut Jam is not just a name, on the day fresh green coconuts from Costa Rica will be on sale full of coconut water, and a little rum should the urge take you!
So come along and join the founders of Black Cat Soundsystem as they continue their 9 year long Fish Island/Hackney Wick musical mission. Band members: Drums: Charlie Benji, Bass: Andronimo, Keys: Luka Rainbow Sound, Guitar and Vocals: Ras Tom.
Each year, Grow is proud to be part of Hackney WickED DIY Open Studios and 2017 is no different. It give us a chance to the celebrate the creativity in the area and showcase what happens at Grow week-in-week-out. This year, we have a jam-packed programme with local talent and some new collaborations in the form of performance, music, participation and art, often all at the same time!
About Grow, Hackney Grow is an independent bar, kitchen and creative space carved out of an old sausage factory by the River Lea in Hackney Wick. It is run as an experiment in ethical and sustainable business and works in partnership with local artists, musicians, DJ's and community groups. Most events are free, from live jazz and blues, open deck reggae, open mic and art festivals. Grow exists for music, art, food, conversation, community and belonging. Everyone is welcome.
