37 Hungarian winemakers will be showcasing over 150 Furmint wines at Merchant Taylors’ Hall, as Furmint February returns to the UK.
Furmint is Hungary’s flagship grape variety and is incredibly versatile producing dry white wines, the renowned sweet wines of Tokaj and now sparkling too.
2020 marks 20 years of dry Furmint wines being produced in Hungary and to celebrate, Wines of Hungary UK will be organising the biggest Furmint tasting ever seen in the UK.
Throughout February, bars, restaurants and retailers are being encouraged to put Furmint in the spotlight through a series of tastings, dinners and special offers, all designed to help wine lovers to taste and learn more about Hungary’s most famous grape variety.
Your Chance to Win Join in the #furmintfebruary20 conversation on social media throughout February for a chance to win six bottles of Furmint. One winner will be drawn each week. For full T&Cs, please visit www.furmintfebruary.co.uk
“The exciting thing about Furmint is its versatility. It has some similarities to Riesling - able to go from bone-dry, crisp and vibrant; to intensely sweet, always with its hallmark steely acidity. At the same time, it has a touch of Chardonnay’s nature about it – capable of fine sparkling wines and able to respond well to oak and malolactic fermentation to give layered complex, almost Burgundian wines,” Caroline Gilby MW explains.
The tasting will take place on Wednesday 29th January, from 5pm-8pm at: Merchant Taylors’ Hall 30 Threadneedle Street | London EC2R 8JB
Tickets can be purchased for £27 per person at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/furmint-february-20-consumer-event-tickets-85952092021
