The course provides over 100 hours of study: subjects include
- Core intensive Actor-training - Voice Technique, & Movement for Actors - Rehearsal exercises - Shakespeare and Classical Scene Study - Contemporary Scene Study - Uta Hagen - Strasberg - On-Camera - Character Analysis Stages I & II - Movement Psychology
We look at ways of opening up and revealing the self so as to achieve real intimacy in performance. We plumb the actors’ resources, opening them to parts of themselves they had previously not accessed for their acting work. They also discover methods which assist them to dramatically increase their creativity in rehearsal, by developing instinct and the ability to surrender to impulses.
The course includes tuition from leading coaches, and Stages 1 & 2 of the Yat Malmgren/Laban method of Transforming Character. Devised for actors, directors and others wishing to learn and explore in-depth the technique and system of psychological typology; it brings Jung's archetypes together with Laban and Stanislavsky and analyses inner motivation and outer expression, leading to the detailed and accurate construction of character. “A revolutionary but entirely practicable approach to our material. Yat Malmgren jointly founded the Drama Centre London, whose students included: Anthony Hopkins, Sean Connery, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Michael Fassbender, Paul Bettany, Tom Hardy, Anne Marie Duff, Geraldine James, Frances de la Tour, Tara Fitzgerald, Helen McCrory among many others.
We are based in the heart of the West End and theatreland, with excellent travel connections close by, and plenty of places to socialise after class!
