Banqueting House - Whitehall Palace

Whitehall Palace, London, Greater London, SW1A2ER

Banqueting House - Whitehall Palace: Set in the heart of historic Whitehall, the Banqueting House is one of Londons hidden treasures. Whether visiting during the day or enjoying a unique evening event, visitors will be enthralled by the history and splendour of this magnificent building.

The Banqueting House is the only remaining complete building of Whitehall Palace, the sovereign`s principal residence from 1530 until 1698 when it was destroyed by fire. The Banqueting House was originally built for occasions of state, plays and masques, which all took place in the magnificent Main Hall. It was later used as a chapel and then as a museum and today is a popular location for royal, charitable and corporate events.

What better place to buy your London gifts than at one of its unique landmarks? The Banqueting House Shop has an extensive range of London souvenirs as well as guidebooks, postcards and specially designed gifts, including an exquisite range of 22-carat gold fine bone china depicting panels from the ceiling painted by the famous 17th-century Flemish artist, Sir Peter Paul Rubens. You do not need a palace ticket to visit the shop.

Opening hours

Monday - Saturday: 10.00-17.00.
