They are constantly trying to make sense of the world around them, to test its boundaries and discover how they can have an impact upon it, comments Ovalhouse’s Head of Theatre and Artist Development, Owen Calvert-Lyons. In 2016, Ovalhouse launched a new Family Theatre programme and have since made it their mission to create a programme for young audiences that reflects the same ideals as their adult programme, to tell powerful and important stories about the world we live in through surprising and innovative works.Additionally, the season will conclude with Filskit Theatre’s critically-acclaimed true story about the unlikely friendship between a polar bear and a husky – a magical Christmas treat for all. Breaking The Ice pushes the European tradition of non-verbal theatre, demonstrating how you can leave out words altogether, and tell a story with sound, gesture, movement and visual languages.
