Buck & Evans was born out of necessity. Touching down at Heathrow off the back of recording his debut album in the US, Chris Buck was greeted by an invitation to open for Sandi Thom at Soho's infamous Madame Jojo's. The only problem being, his band were still in Arizona...
After a few hasty phonecalls en route back to South Wales, the 'one off' pairing was arranged. "Sally Ann Evans has a superb, smouldering voice!" gushes Classic Rock's David Ling, but in March of 2013, the 'vocal powerhouse' was still an unknown entity. "Well worth a shot," thought manager Heather Vincent-Niven. Despite the gamble, the footage of the gig yielded something something that neither musician had expected; "it was clear there was an empathy" says B&E's other manager Alan Niven. "The magic the pair created on the night was not of their imagination".
Within weeks, the rock and soul quartet - completed by rhythm section Bob Richards and Dominic Hill - found themselves to be regular favourites at London's Troubadour. Soon thereafter, Sally Ann and Chris found themselves on a plane bound for the US to back headliner Slash at Rock N' 2 Remember; a benefit show for those affected by Arizona's wildfires which had claimed 19 lives. The Prescott mountain crowd of three thousand looked on as Buck & Evans set became the talk of the day, before the night culminated in Slash, Chris and Sally Ann cutting and weaving their way through tracks by Hendrix, The Stones and of course, Guns N' Roses. Buck & Evans were featured on nearly every TV and Radio station in the state.
Upon returning home, B&E released their eponymous 3 track EP which Classic Rock described as "a superb taster of their bold rootsy rock. Sally Ann's voice is the perfect foil to Buck's guitar."
