Camp Henry - written and performed by Sean Bruno “Apocalypse Now meets The Goonies”
Camp Henry - written and performed by Sean Bruno“Apocalypse Now meets The Goonies”.
Sean was probably the worst Cub Scout at Camp Henry in the summer of ’86.
He didn’t mind though. He was just in it for the dodgeball and any skills that would improve his ability to survive a Russian nuclear strike and not, as his mother thought, to impress his once-Eagle-Scout father.
When a poacher is discovered near camp, Sean and his only friend Jason, are inspired to take control of their destinies and establish their scouting legacy through a misguided and elaborate plan to not only protect, but avenge, Mother Nature.
Regardless of the consequences.
An autobiographical solo comedy about the destructive potential of following one’s heart.
Sean Bruno is a London-based performer and writer and a member of The Conway Collective.
His solo works tend to use a combination of lecture, spoken word, cabaret and storytelling to confront with poignancy and humour the specific subjects he feels lay at the core of his (and our) anxieties. His previous shows have been about thermonuclear destruction, damnation, dementia, lovelessness and orthodontics.
He is a regular collaborator with choreographer Jo Meredith. Together they have created narrative dance works which have been seen at The Place, Wilton’s Music Hall and Sadler’s Wells. In 2015 they formed the Meredith Bruno Company.
In 2011 he co-founded The Centre for Solo Performance at Conway Hall with Luke Dixon as a place in which to support performers interested in creating solo works. From these workshops, came their book CREATING SOLO PERFORMANCE (Routledge, 2015) which The Stage has called, ‘A welcome addition to an actor’s bookshelves.’ “Arresting Spoken Work Artist” - BBC Radio 3
