Canvas and Cream Art Gallery and Restaurant Opening: Canvas & Cream, a revolutionary, new concept art gallery, diningroom, workshops, studios and therapy space opens its doors on Friday 17thFebruary. The venture includes an up-cycled restaurant alongside a dedicated gallery/project space hosting a vibrant creative events program. There are also sevenartist/artisan studios and an alternative therapy room offering a variety of treatments.

The construction of Canvas & Cream has been a vast DIY public artproject, using Up Cycled and recycled materials. The businessis a family run social enterprise with an environmental focus tapping into the localcommunity's resources.

Canvas and Cream isthe idea of artist Joanna Gore, along with her daughter, artist Emily Gore, andpartner, carpenter Paul Rushworth. Joanna says Our vision is tocreate an entirely new way for the local community to engage with thearts. We combine artistic innovation, health, wellbeing and a unique social dining experience all under one roof.

Up cycling is acore theme for us. For a while we have beenexperimenting with repurposing discarded everyday objects in our own work, andwe wanted to see if we could extend that to the construction of the venue. Somematerials have been sourced from skips and demolition sites and others havebeen generously donated by our growing list of supporters. Local people have been incredibly enthusiastic and supportive, helpingwith the build whilst learning new skills alongside us and providing muchneeded encouragement.

On Friday 17thFebruary the venue will be opened to guests and signed up members only beforebeing thrown open to the public on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th February, with'taster' art workshops and opportunities to meet the artists and therapistsparticipating in the community. On the evening of Sunday 19th February ' day two of our Launch - we will finish off with a one-time-only Dinner and Film Night. This is a set menu of two courses followed by a full screening of Garbage Warrior ' an inspirational true story of maverick US architect Michael Reynolds and his fight to introduce radically sustainable housing. In a unique visit director Oliver Hodge will be visiting to introduce his film.

TheCanvas & Cream exhibition was open to all artists living and working in theUK.
