The Q Theatre & Performing Arts

A New Play By Gavin Fleming

The country is f***ed. The world is ending. But we’re still here. Isn’t that marvellous?
No, I’m asking you. Is it, or isn’t it? Because I’d really like to know.’

Frangipane Productions proudly presents The Q, a rapid-fire, state-of-the-nation satire written by Gavin Fleming, returning to London after a successful run at the OSO Arts Centre. After their OFFIE-nominated, sell out run of The Party at The Camden Fringe last year, Frangipane Productions are bringing The Q to the King’s Head Theatre as a part of their Sight Unseen season celebrating untold stories with an LGBTQI+ focus.

The play follows Ruth Triggs, a junior doctor whose explosive quarter-life crisis is interrupted by the death of the Queen. In this moment of national and personal uncertainty, Ruth strikes up an unexpected friendship with her cantankerous neighbour, Barry. When Barry asks for Ruth’s company to see the Queen, she reluctantly agrees – but she wasn’t expecting Barry to dust off his ball gown and attend the wake as his former female alter ego, variety-show-legend Venetia Blindes. Of course, as she will discover, there is a problem with standing in a line for fourteen hours: the people on either side!

The Q is a sucker-punch of a play that will offer moments of wit and sheer silliness, whilst also giving pause to allow audiences to process (sometimes overwhelming) cultural moments with their own personal histories.
