It’s traditional Chinese culture as it was meant to be — With an elite company of dancers, singers, and musicians, the New York-based Divine Performing Arts comes to London this March.
Divine Performing Arts presents classical Chinese dance and music in a gloriously colourful and exhilarating show at Covent Garden´s New London Theatre. An art form some three millennia old, Chinese dance is refreshingly dynamic and expressive.
Ancient legends and heroic figures come to life through its leaps, spins, and delicate gestures.
With a programme of nearly twenty beautiful dances and songs the masterful choreography ranges from grand imperial processions to legions of thunderous drums, with gorgeously costumed dancers moving in stunning synchronised patterns.
Divine Performing Arts story-based dances explore a range of themes from both the ancient and modern world. Audiences may see the heroism of China’s greatest general, Yue Fei; join the legendary heroine Mulan, on her quest; or glimpse the courage of Falun Gong practitioners in China today. Such dances give every DPA show a dramatic intensity.
The 40-piece Divine Performing Arts Orchestra brings together two of the world’s greatest classical music traditions, Chinese and Western, in a masterful fusion.
