This two day event takes place on Sat 23 Sep AND Sun 24 Sep.
-- It takes a lot of time, energy, and resources to put on a show. There are many great show ideas that never see the light of day because their creators do not have the capital or resources to get them off the ground. There are also many great performances who simply fade away after an all-too-short run, never to be seen again. But this does not have to be the case. In these days of i-tunes, YouTube, Vimeo, blogs and e-books it has never been easier, and cheaper, to manifest your performance ideas and share them with a global audience In this practical workshop, Sean Bruno & Luke Dixon will look how you can bring your performance, theatre piece or story to life through podcasting, blogging and digital publishing; and how you can use these mediums to create new work and discover new audiences. Over the course of the two-days we will discuss. The Story and the Medium: How do we transform your performance ideas into digital formats. What do we gain? What do we lose? The creative power in making a Minimum Viable Product. Podcasting: A simple how-to workshop on podcasting. Technical requirements and creative ideas for creating a unique podcast experience. Websites and Blogs: What you need to set up your performance website or blog. To Vlog or not to Vlog? Finding the right type of website for your work and building an audience. e-Publishing: We go through the misconceptions, pros and cons of self-publishing. How to transform your show or script into a high-quality e-book or paperback and how to distribute them globally through online retailers like Amazon, iTunes, Kobo and Ingram. By the end of the Workshop you will have an understanding of the accessibility and creative potential of all of these mediums and how you might use them to explore and expand your creative practices. The course will be led by Sean Bruno and Luke Dixon, authors of Creating Solo Performance.Venue: Conway Hall, 25 Red Lion Square, London, WC1R 4RL
