Firepower: Welcome to Firepower, the museum of the Royal Artillery and Europes widest variety of historic and modern artillery.
Get close to the big guns that chart 600 years of artillery development. Experience battle field life and discover more about those who served the guns. See medals from one of the UKs best collections and test your skill with interactive exhibits.
Start your visit with an introduction to Firepower in the Breech Cinema, where a member of the Royal Artillery will greet you. The Cinemas seven minute film explains the layout of Firepower, and looks at how the Royal Artillery and its museum came to be in Woolwich.
Enter the Field of Fire and you stand on a central raised platform surrounded by real guns, missiles and aircraft.
Smoke fills the air, searchlights pick out the artillery and the sound of exploding bombs and shells shakes the ground under your feet.
In the Real Weapon Gallery you can find out more about ammunitionthe real weapon of artillerywith hands on displays how to choose the right type, how its powered and how to control its trajectory.
Open from beginning of April to end of October 2005, wednesday to Sunday 10:30 to 5pm
Open all school holidays and bank holidays.
There is full disabled access to the museum. Smoking is not permitted within the museum.
