Our successful Foundation ATCL Diploma - enrolment is now open for the 2019 programme!
We have an excellent success record in the ATCL examination [course average 74/100!], and the course is taught by leading coaches with much professional performance experience on stage, and on screen. This course is enjoyable, challenging and potentially life-changing - even if you're not sure about a career in acting, the Level 4 credits will help with future study plans.
The course is ideal – for young people in their gap year who are interested in developing a future in acting – and for older people seeking a change in direction – who would like to gain a thorough appreciation for what it means to train as an actor. Everyone has the opportunity to dramatically improve their skills under the guidance of top experts in acting, movement, improvisation and voice.
The course prepares students for the Trinity ATCL examination in June, and a whole lot more.
It is at least equivalent to the Foundation Acting courses offered at some of the other conservatoire drama schools in the UK – but we provide much more intensive tuition, in small groups, and often at lower fees. We encourage our students to apply to, and go on to train at those drama schools; but we also invite those who are ready, to continue with us and our bespoke studio-training on the advanced programme.
In the Method-based training that we offer at the Giles Foreman Centre for Acting, the acting class is of central importance. Students learn a rigorous process for opening up emotionally, learning to trust their impulses and how to analyse a script thoroughly. They learn to deconstruct characters, to discover the core motivations and to develop clear character thought processes. They also take part in intensive movement and voice classes in order to gain a degree of mastery of their instrument from a technical perspective, as well as Meisner technique, and improvisation classes to expand and test the limits of their imagination and spontaneity.
Ge in touch to find out more, come in to meet us and discuss your plans!
