We all tell ourselves stories about ourselves, about who we think we are, e.g"I am an anxious person.", "I am broken", "I am smart.", "I am stupid.", "I am depressed."
Buying into these stories make us rigid: we struggle to do, experience, think or feel things that contradict them

In this event you'll learn:

You will learn how to loosen the attachment to the stories you tell about yourself so that they don't control what you think, feel and do, this in turn will have the following benefits:
* Your self-stories will no longer define who you areYou will open up to new experiences and become capable of defining yourself freely
* Your well-being will improve, and it will become easier to do new things if you wantYour performance at work may increase
* You will become more capable of connecting to others

What is this event based on?

* The session, it's exercises and theory are from an evidence-backed approach, called Acceptance and Commitment Training / Therapy
* ACT has over 800 Randomized Controlled Trials (the highest standard for scientific research) supporting it's effectiveness
* ACT proposes that developing a skill called Psychological Flexibility helps alleviate most psychological issues and is extremely effective in helping people achieve goals in a vast number of life areas from professional athletics, to dieting, career development or parentingIn this event, we will develop an aspect of Psychological Flexibility
* Everywhere humans go, their minds go with themIf we can understand how our minds work, we become capable of better handling any situation that involves thinking, feeling, sensing or remembering
* ACT is based on a theory that describes how the human mind works, it's called RFT or Relational Frame TheoryRFT could be viewed as a "blueprint" of the human mindRFT has been in development for almost 40 years and has been tested with the outmost scientific rigour

What should I expect during the event?

This event will be highly experiential, i.ewe will do exercises to learn and adaptThe theory presented will constitute only ~20-30% of the total timeIn a way developing Psychological Flexibility is like learning to danceIt's interesting to read about dancing or to listen to a podcast about dancing but you don't learn to dance that way and you won't get an idea about what kind of dancing you likeWe can only learn to dance through practice, so I'm inviting you, metaphorically, to dance with me:-)

Self-Help and Self-Improvement vsTherapy and Coaching

* There's evidence that ACT works in a self-help formatHowever, it's efficacy is limited compared to a coaching or therapy setting and it's easy to get stuck with the self-help format
* There are obvious limitations as well that come from the delivery format, e.gyou could misunderstand or mishear the instructions, time is more limited than in therapy, etc
* Consequently, this event is not a substitution for therapy but it can complement therapyIf you feel your issue requires a therapist, please seek professional advice
* At the end of the session, I will recommend sites where you can find an ACT therapist and I'll recommend several self-help books as well if you prefer to continue your journey that way
