Geffrye Museum

Geffrye Museum, London, Greater London, E28EA

Geffrye Museum: The Geffrye Museum is one of London's best-loved museums. It shows the changing style of the English domestic interior in a series of period rooms from 1600 to the present day. The displays lead the visitor on a walk through time, from the 17th century with oak furniture and panelling, past the refined splendour of the Georgian period and the high style of the Victorians, to 20th century modernity as seen in a 1930s flat, a mid-century room in contemporary style and a late- 20th century living space in a converted warehouse.

Its collections of furniture, textiles, paintings and objects are displayed in a series of period rooms from 1600 to the present day. The museum is set in the former almshouses of the Ironmongers' Company.

The Geffrye is located in Shoreditch just minutes from the City of London. It is easily reached by public transport. Admission to the museum and gardens is free.

Open Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 5pm

Sundays & Bank Holiday Mondays 12 - 5pm

Closed Mondays (unless Bank Holiday), Good Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day
