This interactive workshop provides a board-level introduction to risk governance, looking at the importance of understanding risk, exploring how your business can prepare for uncertainty, and examining the director's role in managing risk.
Working through a scenario-based case study, you will have the chance to engage with the topic in a very practical way and analyse the situation using a sample risk assessment that prompts thought about different types of risk including governance, operational, financial, sector-specific, and external or emerging risks.
This applied approach will help you to understand how risk management supports both the planning and achievement of organisational strategy, and prompt discussion and appreciation of the responsibility that directors have for risk governance across the organisation.
By the time you have completed the session, you will be able to:
- Articulate some of the common risk areas for all businesses and organisations.
- Identify the key principles that boards can use to evaluate risk and manage it in a way that best ensures the effective long term viability of the organisation.
About the course leader: Janhavi Dadarkar has over a decade of experience in advising companies, directors and enterprising individuals on company law, corporate governance and intellectual property protection. She is a recognised expert on commercial transactions with an international flavour and has worked with directors, organisations and governments at the highest levels. Before starting her own Healthcare and Media Consultancy, Janhavi spent many years in well known international city law firms as a Corporate and Media Lawyer. Janhavi is also an IOD coach and works with Directors who want to better understand the regulatory framework and commercial practicalities of leading organisations.
