Old Royal Naval College

Old Royal Naval College, London, Greater London, SE109NN

Old Royal Naval College: The Old Royal Naval College is the great baroque masterpiece of English architecture, set in landscaped grounds on the River Thames in the centre of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site.

Sir Christopher Wren planned the site, described as "one of the most sublime sights English architecture affords", and during the first half of the eighteenth century various illustrious architects, such as Hawksmoor and Vanbrugh, completed Wrens grand design.

Public access has now been much increased and the Foundation, together with its two principal on site partners, host a wide range of events and activities for all sections of the community. These include children's activities, open-air theatre, concerts, exhibitions and daily guided tours. A programme for schools has recently been launched.

The Painted Hall is normally open daily between 10am and 5pm, but may close on some Saturdays at 4.30 pm for weddings.

The Chapel is normally open daily between 10am and 5pm. A service of worship is held every Sunday at 11am, to which all are welcome.

The Painted Hall or Chapel may be closed at various times for other events. Please call 020 8269 4747 to check opening hours.

Guided tours, lasting about an hour and a half, are also available at £4 (children under 16 free of charge).
