Paperworks is a paper exclusive exhibition devoted to looking at a range of artists.
Drawing is often considered as the quintessential point from which the development of an idea moves through to a larger or more complex work – regardless of whether they contain the genesis of a larger work or are complete in themselves, drawings offer both the maker and the viewer direct appeal as intimate first-hand encounters.
Those involved in this exhibition range from internationally renowned artists such as Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, whose screenprints are in the Tate Britain collection to several newly emerging artists from recent Leyden Gallery Platform for Emerging Arts exhibitions.
The parameters of the paper works cross various techniques and engage many different skills, such as drawing, painting, illustration, sculpture, printing and photography.
Artists:
Wilhelmina Barns Graham
Paula Rego
Gareth Bunting
James Melloy
Tina Crawford
Sarah Muirhead
Linsday Moran
Daniel Hosego
Buffy Kim
Atsuko Nakamura
Hilary Ellis
To coincide with the Paperworks exhibiton, artist Gareth Bunting will be running a special workshop on April 7th, "Virtual Reality Drawing workshop with artist Gareth Bunting". Open your eyes to a new world of possibility and take a tour through the immersive and surreal landscapes created by an award-winning artist. Using the Oculas rift headset, attendees will be getting hands-on with Gravity Sketch and Google tilt brush, learning the basics and creating their own personal and imaginative 3D paintings.
