A musical feast - is it jambalaya or jollof? Afrobeat or funk? Which is the best? You choose!
On the London leg of their European Tour, Patches Stewart (Trumpet - Marcus Miller, Al Jarreau, Quincy Jones) representing New Orleans, and Xantoné Blacq (Keys - Amy Winehouse, Laura Mvula, Jason Rebello) representing Nigeria, team up to play a wide range of the incredible music from their birthplaces. Expect a mix of highlife, jazz, R&B, Afrobeat, juju, funk and more! Anyone who saw Xantoné and Patches’ sold out shows at London Jazz Festival 2015 knows that everybody is in for a treat. Buy your tickets and get ready to rumble!Patches Stewart, is part of the next generation who took the original funk, jazz and soul prototype and with his trumpet exploded it into a thousand fresh fragments; jazz funk, jazz rock, soul funk and so many more. Through his work with Quincy Jones, Al Jarreau, Marcus Miller and many others, Patches has left a serious fingerprint on modern music history.
Xantoné Blacq, born in Lagos, Nigeria, his roots are from Africa. As part of the generation after Patches, his Vocals, Keyboards and Percussion playing are a fusion of the new and the old; the funk and Africa. No stranger to the big stage, he was Amy Winehouse’s keyboard player and toured worldwide with her.
Gareth Lockrane (flute - Corinne Bailey Rae, JTQ), Nathan Allen (drums - Amy Winehouse, Tom Jones) and Dale Davis (bass - Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson) complete this funky line up.
