The second in our Stories Road season sees us heading into the depths of time and space and the heart of the Brazilian jungle.
UNI-VERSEA mathematician finds a gift from a god. Blacksmiths beat out the music of the spheres. And why are there turtles everywhere?
Where does myth meet science? Is it only in the middle of the night when we half wake and half sleep? In this eternal place of wonder and insight, time stretches and a fissure opens that builds a dream bridge between many worlds…
Clare Murphy spreads out a galaxy of stories, merging myth, deities, science and a hefty amount of turtle, in a playful exploration of the beginnings of the universe.
“Clare Muireann Murphy’s beautiful lilting Irish voice was in stark contrast to the darkly humorous stories she told us, and she her first-rate comic physicality only served to enhance her storytelling”. Everything Theatre
“masterly storytelling – all delivered at a pace which meant there was never a dull moment”. Culture Whisper
Performer, writer and curiosist, Clare celebrates her tenth year of storytelling. She has performed the world over from Brazil to Oslo. She has frequented great stages such as The Globe Theatre, The National Theatre and Soho Theatre in London, as well as touring once a year around the US. Story Jam is delighted to welcome her back.
THE BARBECUED HUSBAND
Barbecued husbands, a wife whose head goes wandering off in the night, a girl who becomes a snake…
Tales of the Amazon jungle’s steamy heart from Brazilian storyteller, Ana Lines.
Ana Maria Lines is journalist and Storyteller. Her performances and workshops have engaged and captivated adults and children in England, Scotland, Cuba and Spain. As well as researching and retelling South American tales, Ana teaches the uses of storytelling and is the Chair of the Stafford Storytellers Organization and runs the Stafford Knot Storytelling Club.
