Bjarki, Trip production wünderkind and one of dance music’s most in-demand talents, launches his triptych of new albums at The Pickle Factor
The young Icelandic producer was first introduced by Nina Kraviz’s acclaimed label Trip, for whom Bjarki is the standout talent. His ‘I Wanna Go Bang’ was one of 2015’s most ubiquitous records, while his RA podcast last year composed entirely out of his own productions - in an audacious move reminiscent of Ricardo Villalobos’ Fabric mix - demonstrated his admirable confidence, and supreme musicianship. Such are Bjarki’s prolific studio skills, that Trip recently announced not one, but three upcoming solo albums from him, comprising 41 tracks altogether, which stretch from dusty breakbeat tracks to richly textured techno and back again. On 16th September, Bjarki performs live his trio of albums at The Pickle Factory for the very first time.He’s joined by Special Guests Instra:Mental. Like Bjarki, it’s hard to define Instra:Mental’s take on techno, dubstep and drum n’ bass. Back in 2007, they crystallised a new UK sound, one that blends rhythms and moods from across the bass spectrum into a new, intoxicating style of techno. Comprised of Jon Convex and Boddika - both UK superstars in their own right - Instra:Mental put out a series of devastatingly influential EPs and albums for the likes of Exit Records, Apple Pips, 3024, and Boddika’s own Nonplus Records. Having taken a creative hiatus of sorts in 2012 to work on solo projects, it’s an honour to host Instra:Mental’s first London show in four years at The Pickle Factory on 16th September.
