Objekt, one of the most in-demand DJs in dance music, plays a rare intimate gig on 29th Oct, joined by two of the UK’s finest: Hessle Audio
Just five years ago, TJ Hertz was a Native Instruments engineer making tunes out of his bedsit in Oxford. After a handful of self-released EPs, he produced Cactus / Porcupine for Hessle Audio, an all-conquering underground smash that propelled Objekt to the very forefront of the UK scene. Now, after a series of collaborative EPs with Detroit originator Dopplereffekt and techno luminary Cosmin TRG - not to mention a full-length debut on Bill Kouligas’ revered Pan imprint - Objekt is one of our eminent dance music exports. As a DJ, Hertz is one of the UK’s finest, possessed with a flawless technique, adventurous spirit, and deep collection of dancefloor bombs old and few. No one joins the musical dots quite like Objekt - a truly special talent. He’s joined by two other prodigal UK DJs - Bruce and Beatrice Dillon. Once his deadly unreleased tracks appeared in the sets of Call Super, Peverelist and the Hessle crew, Bruce quickly became one of techno’s most mysterious figures. After his debut release dropped on Hessle Audio in 2014, the secret was out: Bruce is Larry McCarthy, a young Bath-based producer with a near unmatched ear for groove and sound design. Records for Idle Hands and Dnuos Ytivil have followed, along with the revelation that Bruce is a sublime DJ too, equally capable of spinning rich house records as bone-shaking UK techno. Beatrice Dillon is a similarly multi-faceted artist: as well as composing a string of lush, esoteric mixes for Trilogy Tapes and Blowing Up The Workshop, and releasing for the likes of Where To Now? and Alien Jams, Dillon has collaborated with visual artists at Palais De Tokyo Paris, ICA and Southbank Centre.
