Join us at Hideaway for a three night residency of pure Stevie Wonder bliss as we celebrate the man and the music
Hideaway celebrates one of the greatest names in soul history – from the emergence of ‘Little Stevie’ through to the reign of the ‘Master Blaster’ himself!Diving into one of the most celebrated songbooks of any solo artist, Wall to Wall: Stevie Wonder teams Hideaway resident MD and keys maestro Janette Mason with the stunning soulful vocal talents of Lex Cameron (aka Lennox, ‘Don’t Go’/’Free’) and Mary Pearce (Lionel Richie, Grace Jones, Courtney Pine, Donna Summer and more)
Lex Cameron
Lex Cameron may on the surface be unfamiliar to all but the more astute music aficionadosMost would probably remember him from recordings he made in the early 90s under his previous moniker “Lennox”, most notably the double-A side “Don’t Go”/”Free”; two slices of sensual and conscious UK Soul respectively
In recent times Lex can be found in the guise of Musical Director, vocalist/composer and keyboard player for none other than Mr Omar Lye-Fook on the tour circuit, as well as preparing subtly in the background for his own solo comeback
Janette Mason - Musical Director and Piano
Even if you’ve never been to this exceptional pianist’s gigs, you’ll have heard her special touch time and again - on many albums from Ian Shaw to Robert Wyatt, live in concert with Oasis and Jimmy Somerville as well as her numerous contributions for television and soundtracks for the movies
Janette Mason is a talented composer and arrangerShe was recently commissioned to write the score for feature film, The Calling, starring Susannah York and Brenda Blethyn, contributed four arrangements to Ian Shaw’s album, Drawn to all Things, and produced and arranged Lea DeLaria’s current Warner Brothers release, The Live Smoke Sessions, which made the Grammy ballot
As a Jazz musician, she has been a seminal figure on the British Jazz scene for the last fifteen years, sharing the stage with Mornington Lockett, Julian Siegel and many more
Artists: Lex Cameron, Janette Mason
