SLIDE TO SUPPORT LOCAL CHARITIES WITH THE LIBERTY THIS SUMMER
Weininger Resistance Sliding (WRS) is a popular, unique, impact-free sport that everyone can enjoy, regardless of physical ability. Sliding on a specially designed mat, the aim is to get to the end of the course before your competitors and record your time, hoping that you’ll beat the rest!
WRS will be in The Liberty Shopping Centre between Monday 25th and Friday 29th July and Monday 29th August and Friday 2nd September.
The Liberty will be tracking the times of all participants, and the person with the overall fastest time across all the days of the event will receive a £500 donation to the charity of their choice. Additionally, the winner of the fastest time each day will be rewarded with a £20 gift card from The Liberty.
WRS Sliding is engaging, fun, completely inclusive and open to all - young and old, able-bodied and disabled - so anyone could be in with a chance of winning the top prize for a cause close to their heart.
Jonathan Poole, Centre Manager at The Liberty, commented: “This year’s WRS Sliding activity is set to be the best yet, with a little healthy competition generated between friends, family, colleagues and boroughs across the country, in support of some fantastic charitable causes.
“We want to see shoppers, community groups, charity representatives, mascots, local businesses – including staff from the shops in our own centre – and local schools sliding into action for the causes they care most about.
“Whether you’re from Romford or Redbridge, Barking or Brentwood, anyone is welcome to take part – let the games begin!”
Weininger Irwin, creator of WRS Resistance Sliding, added: “This competition is a great opportunity to get involved in a seriously fun competition while supporting local charities.
“I want to see as many people as possible from across the county heading to The Liberty to slide their support – lets get the floors of The Liberty gleaming!”
For participants who don’t have a particular charity in mind to slide for, The Liberty will be recommending its two chosen charities –Sycamore Trust and The British Heart Foundation - and a scoreboard will be set up to show each day’s top scores.
If you are a charity or organisation that wishes to participate, simply slide on down to The Liberty Shopping Centre between Monday 25th – Friday 29th July or Monday 29th August – Friday 2nd September, or contact customer services on 01708 746529 or email [email protected]
