City Art Gallery

City Art Gallery, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M23JL

City Art Gallery: Manchester Art Gallery houses one of the UK's finest art collections in spectacular surroundings. The Gallery has recently benefited from a £35m transformation and has superb visitor facilities and friendly, welcoming staff. There are currently around 25,000 items in the collection and over 2,000 of these are on display in the Gallery. The collection has been awarded Designated Status, which marks it as a pre-eminent collection of high quality and importance.

Pieces from the Thomas Greg Collection of English Pottery and the Assheton-Bennett Collection of Early English Silver can both be seen in the Gallery. In addition, our modern design collection explores the relationship between individual creativity and design for mass production, a theme which continues to inform our collecting choices today.

Closed Mondays except Bank Holidays.

Also closed 1 January, Good Friday, 24-26 and 31 December.
