Explosion - Museum of Naval Firepower: Welcome to Explosion!, museum of Naval Firepower, situated on the Gosport side of Portsmouth Harbour, Hampshire, UK - tracing Naval ordnance from the Battle of Trafalgar to the Gulf War.

Explosion!, The Museum of Naval Firepower is an award winning, hands on, interactive museum telling the story of naval warfare from the days of gunpowder to modern missiles.

The museum includes a nationally significant collection of guns and naval ordnance, an original 18th century gunpowder vault and social history of the people who supplied the Navy from the days of Trafalgar to the Gulf War.

In making Explosion! a whole host of specialist subcontractors - audio-visual specialists, model-makers, graphic designers, computer animators worked on different parts of the project. At the same time the museum's small band of conservators, technicians and volunteers have prepared many of the artefacts which are featured in the exhibition.

The work was finished in February 2001 and then, after a period of testing and trials, the museum was fully open to the public in March 2001. The galleries and displays that have been created represent the first phase of development for the museum.

Explosion! is a modern museum providing a complete visitor experience with a full range of facilities and access for all visitors. There is a gift shop books and souvenirs and a coffee shop with magnificent views of Portsmouth Harbour.
