Petersfield Musical Festival: The 2012 Petersfield Musical Festival will consist of 8 varied concerts, from large-scale choral and orchestral music to youth concerts, chamber music, cabaret and celebrity soloists. Apart from the lunchtime recital, all the concerts are in Petersfield Festival Hall starting at 7.30 pm.

Festival diary:

Friday 9 March Michael Mates and William Godfree in an evening of cabaret. Tickets £12

Saturday 10 March. Verdi: Requiem. Paul Spicer conducts 3 choral societies and the Southern Pro Musica Orchestra in this awe-inspiring masterpiece. Soloists are Claire Seaton, Elizabeth Denham, Andrew Rees ad Michael Pearce. Tickets £18 and £20.

Monday 12 and Wednesday 14 March. Youth Concerts. Singers and instrumentalists from 10 schools, the Petersfield Area Schools String Orchestra and prize-winners from the Michael Hurd Memorial Fund Festival of Young Composers'. Tickets £8 adult, £4 child (£6 and £3 with schools' booking form).

Tuesday 13 March 1 pm. Lunchtime recital in St Peter's Church. The Harris String Quartet in a programme ranging from Haydn's Lark' Quartet to arrangements of Cole Porter and the Beatles. Admission free.

Thursday 15 March. The Petersfield Orchestra, conductor Robin Browning, with Richard Barnes, organ, in a programme of popular classics. Dvorak: Overture ' Carnival, Tchaikovsky: Music from Swan Lake, Saint-Saens Symphony no. 3 (Organ Symphony'). Tickets £15

Friday 16 March. Celebrity recital by Carlo Curley ' The Pavarotti of the organ'. Tickets £12

Saturday 17 March. Choral concert to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, featuring coronation music from three centuries. In the second half of the concert, the Petersfield Chamber Choir, conducted by Ann Pinhey, perform coronation odes by Handel and Boyce before joining the combined choirs of the Festival Chorus, under Festival conductor Paul Spicer, in Parry's I was glad and Walton's Coronation Te Deum. Organist Richard Pearce plays solos by S S Wesley and Elgar and is joined by the splendid sounds of brass and percussion from Southern Pro Musica to accompany the choral items. In the first half, the combined choirs sing Dvorak's lilting Mass in D. Tickets £16
