Calleva Roman Museum provides background information for the site visit to the Roman town walls and amphitheatre. In the centre lay the Forum and Basilica. The Forum court was surrounded on the north, east and south sides by a continuous row of shops and offices, flanked inside and out by porticos of Bath-stone Tuscan columns; the main entrance was in the centre of the east side. Across the west side of the Forum court lay the Basilica. Fragments of marble from Purbeck and Italy were found in rubble layers, indicating a fine finish to the building.

The museum is open daily during daylight hours and admission is free. The museum is maintained by an independent Trust. Reading Borough Museum also has a display of the Silchester material. .

As one of the world's great cities, London has much to offer the visitor. But its position as a global powerhouse hasn't simply emerged overnight; instead, it has taken nearly 2,000 years for it to establish itself as a centre of cultural, financial, historical and political importance. We trace London's development from AD 43 to the present day.
