Souvenir Danne Frank

Nuffield Theatre, Thursday, 19 April 2012 - Friday, 20 April 2012

Souvenir Danne Frank: Years after the war, Otto Frank, Anne's father, sent a rose named the Souvenir d'Anne Frank' to Japan. It now blossoms and grows in the gardens of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and of every Japanese city, cultivated by children as a symbol of peace and reconciliation.

On Holocaust Day, 27th January 2012, a rose grafted from the original roses sent to Japan will be planted in each of the towns and cities that this production visits.

In a magical dreamscape, where word, song, haiku and recorded sound weave through Colin Decio's haunting Het Achterhuis' trio, the story of the rose is told by a European woman and a Japanese girl.

Anne Frank's humanity, humour and wisdom still touch the hearts of East and West alike...

Souvenir Danne Frank at Nuffield Theatre in Southampton, Hampshire on Thursday, 19 April 2012.
