Cmon Everybody

Granville Theatre, Saturday, 09 June 2012

9 JUN

Cmon Everybody: The biggest and best Rock n' Roll MUSIC tribute show in Britain is coming back to the Granville Theatre on Saturday 9 June at 7.30pm, when visitors are invited to take their drape jackets and circle skirts out of the back of the wardrobe for an evening of unashamed 50's nostalgia. The music of legends like Bill Haley, Eddie Cochran, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry will be celebrated along with tributes to Brenda Lee and Connie Francis in the fast moving revue C'Mon Everybody.

The show, which has been running for six years, is master minded by ace guitarist and music industry veteran Chris Fender' Black who has spent years perfecting the show, which now plays the biggest theatres in the UK and abroad. Chris himself is musical director, and he is surrounded by a hand-picked team of seven professionals (Blackcats) all with backgrounds in music and theatre whose amazing tributes will have you believe you are back in the days of big finned cars and coffee bars when there were no Mods, just Rockers.

Chris said it was always my dream to have a self-contained touring revue celebrating the hits of the fifties and now my dream has come true.

Hits like Rock Around The Clock, Three Steps To Heaven, Oh Boy! and Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On, live again in the hands of the professionals whose costumes reflect the era.

All the acts are completely live and are given full support by the Chris Black Orchestra, which includes brass and piano, not to mention back up vocalists for that authentic full sound that had us dancing round our Dansettes back in the day.

The C'Mon Everybody Show also celebrates the music of Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Duane Eddy, The Ramrods, Santo & Johnny, Bee Bumble and the Stingers, Frankie Ford, Johnny Kidd, Ray Campi and Clyde McPhatter and it appeals to all ages right across the board. Audiences range from kids to grannies (who remember the music the first time round)!

UK Rock Magazine, the respected bible' of fifties music and lifestyle said of the C'Mon Everybody Show: This is the slickest, fastest moving non-stop revue ever seen in the UK and is doing completely live what TV shows like Oh Boy and Dreambeat attempted back in the fifties. It leaves the audience completely breathless and Chris Fender' Black is to be congratulated for putting together the most ambitious show seen outside the West End.

FEATUREYou and What Army band interview

Telford-based electro-rock band You and What Army describe themselves as "having unforgivingly catchy trance synths that soar over tectonic-plate-shatteringly heavy guitar riffs, dancefloor-destroyingly awesome basslines and lowrider-cruisingly phat beats, with the narrated apocalypse rapped, sung and screamed wildly into the fray." That's one massive claim, so BritEvents' Lucy Middleton catches up with the four piece band to find out more about their epic sound.
