St Leonards Tower

St Leonards Tower, West Malling, Kent, ME196PE

St Leonards Tower: St Leonard's Tower is one of the most impressive buildings in Kent, built by Bishop Gundolf, who also built Rochester Cathedral and the White Tower of London.

The tower stands almost to its original height and takes its name from a chapel dedicated to St Leonard that once stood nearby.

An early and well-preserved example of a small free-standing Norman tower keep, surviving almost to its original height. It was probably built c. 1080 by Gundulf, Bishop of Rochester, and takes its name from a chapel of St Leonard which once stood nearby. Managed by West Malling Parish Council.
