Squerryes Court Manor House and Gardens

Squerryes Court Manor House and Gardens: SQUERRYES COURT is a beautiful 17th century manor house which has been the Warde family home since 1731. It is surrounded by 20 acres of attractive and historic gardens which include a lake, restored parterres and an 18th century dovecote.

Squerryes is 22 miles from London and easily accessible from the M25. Chartwell, Hever, Knole and Penshurst are all nearby, and some groups combine visits to Squerryes with Titsey Place and Quebec House. There are lovely views and peaceful surroundings. Visitors from far and wide come to enjoy the atmosphere of a house which is still lived in as a family home.

THERE IS A fine collection of Old Master paintings from the Italian, 17th century Dutch and 18th century English schools, furniture, porcelain and tapestries all acquired or commissioned by the family in the 18th century.

THE ATTRACTIVE GARDENS are interesting all through the year. Thousands of daffodils are followed by carpets of bluebells. Herbaceous borders and old roses flower all summer.

The earliest record of the garden is 1686 and there are also plans of the elaborate formal gardens created by the Earl of Jersey in 1709. The garden and lake were altered considerably in the middle of the 18th century. The bones of the old formal garden can still be seen.

Groups are always guided around the house. An additional charge of £17.00 per guide. Maximum 25 per guide, but everyone does the tour at the same time.

Length of tour is approximately one hour but shorter tours can be arranged. Suggested length of visit up to 3 hours.
