Drumpellier Nursery: Located within Drumpellier Country Park, off Blair Road, Coatbridge, this nursery hosts a selection of various tropical and temperate plant species with very fine specimens of Cycad palms on view.
The glasshouse units consist of eight clearspan houses with a total area of 1168 m2. Last year the unit produced 312 hanging baskets, 80,000 summer bedding, 60,000 spring bedding, 17,000 house/flowering plants giving a total production of 157,000 plants for 2009.
Talks on horticulture and various interesting slide show presentations can be requested from this complex. The unit is hosting a new initiative of Horticultural Therapy where groups from local community come along and participate in several general gardening tasks such as sowing seeds or potting on, which in turn assists in bringing a tranquil outlook to life.
Floral decorations are arranged with various props constructed and incorporated into the decoration giving a new and inspired look to this once municipal forte.
