Ministry started in the early 1980's as a soft sounding new wave band not much harder than a Depeche Mode or New Order. This was very much the calm before the storm! By 1987 Ministry spearheaded the then new sound of industrial metal with groundbreaking albums like The Land of Rape and Honey, The Mind is a Terrible Thing To Taste and the cult classic Psalm 69. Ministry, more than any other band, created and defined the genre largely through the demented fury and imagination of Ministry founder and front man Al Jourgensen. Ten albums later and Ministry is more of a force than ever. Take a listen to their most recent album, appropriately titled Relapse to see just what I mean. Beyond that catch them live. Al is known to perform with three guitar players, two drummers and two bass players not to mention guest vocalists, synth players and dancers. It's a scene straight from a science fiction movie. A science fiction movie with a really outstanding sound track!
