Commercial GIS software, such as ESRI ArcGIS, MapInfo and ENVI are only accessible to users with a payment of a license. Actually, as the most popular open source GIS software, QGIS can replace ESRI ArcGIS in the majority of GIS functions. Course content: Participants will learn knowledge of and gain skills in: Spatial data models Import geospatial data from ESRI shape files, text (csv) files, Google KML files, etc. Import web maps (Google Map, Bing Map, OpenStreetMap, etc) Design and produce maps Basic geoprocessing and analysis operations (Selection, Buffer, Intersect, Nearest Neighbour analysis, etc.)
