Liverpool has a very distinctive skyline. The Three Pier Head 'Graces', the two Cathedrals, the Radio City Tower and more recently the Waterfront skyscrapers and the Echo Arena have all given Liverpool a globally recognised profile. But it wasn't always going to turn out that way............
Mark Craig has worked for Liverpool City Council for 29 years, initially as a landscape architect, then by 1995 had moved into City Planning and Regeneration and since 1997 has been tracking and reporting on development activity across the City, latterly working in the Office of the City Mayor. Over that time he has assembled a fascinating archive of material from the past 100 years showing what might have been, unbuilt schemes and projects and also what has been and gone. It presents a tantalising picture of 'Unbuilt Liverpool' and the imagination (and sometimes the folly) of the City Fathers, architects, planners and developers over the years.
Come along and have your imagination stirred by Mark's extraordinary and impressive archive. Turn out your bookshelves and cupboards and bring along any historic material you would like to share at the meeting. You may be surprised as to how interesting it is......."
