Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M34FP

Museum of Science and Industry: Situated in the oldest passenger railway buildings in the world, the Museum tells the story of the history, science and industry of Manchester - the world's first industrial city. After relocating to its historic site the Museum opened its doors on 15 September 1983. Initially, only the Power Hall and parts of the Main Building and Station Building were in use, but now all five buildings house a wide-range of exciting exhibitions and collections.

Stimulate your senses in Xperiment; our hands-on interactive science gallery and visit the Special Exhibition Gallery for our latest blockbuster exhibition. Watch our demonstrators operate the thunderous cotton machinery in Fibres Fabrics and Fashion and explore the many cabinets and drawers in the Collections Centre. Don't miss the colossal steam locomotive, Beyer Garratt, in the Power Hall, the mighty Avro Shackleton plane in the Air & Space Hall and then experience the fascinating light and sound show; 'Warehouse for the World', which tells the story of the 1830 Warehouse.

The Museum is open from 10. 00 am - 5. 00 pm every day, except 24, 25, 26 December. .
