Foxdenton Hall Manchester Overnight Ghost Hunt: As you can imagine, this sprawling building has and still got strong family ties. with at least 25 generations of the same family owning this unique property, you can see why they wish to stay even after death, as the love of their place is so strong.

History

The Foxdenton heritage started in the early 1400's when Elizabeth Radcliffe married her cousin Robert Radcliffe and they built Foxdenton Hall as their home.

William Radcliffe, the 'Foxdenton Redhead' rebuilt the hall in 1620. He was killed together with his son and heir Robert when fighting for the country at the Battle of Edgehill in 1642 and it was Alexander(Radclyffe) who was

responsible for rebuilding the hall in 1700 as it is seen today. The last of the Radclyffes was Charles Robert Eustace who died in 1953 and brought the end to a long line of Radclyffes. During the Civil Wars when the cavaliers

was highly vulnerable they needed to have a quick means of escape and there is a rumour to have had a tunnel from Foxdenton to Chadderton Hall. It wasn't really proved except when Chadderton Council were renovating the

hall in 1965 they found a large stack of bricks under a new stone terrace.

Paranormal Activity

Cold spots are often experienced in the cellar, alongside with shadows as well. The main hall has given strange feelings to visitors and many have heard children playing in the house. in the Blue Room strange smells have been smelt and hot and warm spots felt. There is a story of someone who met their fate at the stairs, they could have accidentally fallen, or was they pushed?
