Leicester Forest RFC are holding a ‘Warrior Camp’, held at Hinkley Road on Friday April 27th.With the turn of spring bringing longer days and lighter evenings – and the women’s rugby sevens making its first appearance in the Commonwealth Games this April – there’s no better time to give rugby a try.
Women inspired by local player, Emily Scarrett from Leicester, part of Team England’s Women’s Sevens squad the 2018 Games, are being invited to give rugby a try by Leicester Forest RFC at their ‘Warrior Camp’, held at Hinkley Road on Friday April 27th.
Leicester Forest RFC wants to empower women to find, connect with and free their inner warrior spirit by giving rugby a try. The Warrior Camps aim to encourage more women and girls to play rugby, teaching participants key introductory skills and drills within a non-committal, social and fun environment. Participants will be introduced to the basics of rugby, including passing, kicking and tackling, along with enjoyable fitness routines.
There are a multitude of benefits from team sports; confidence, friendship, leadership, respect – the list goes on. What makes rugby unique is that there is room for everyone – every shape and size, tall or short, fast or slow and many more. There are no barriers to playing rugby. You just need the grit and determination to get stuck in.
Playing rugby can be a great way to release stress and tension, offering a massive hit of feel good hormones, letting you channel any pent-up stress or anxiety into the game. There’s also a real sense of belonging, camaraderie and working as a team. Rugby players look out for each other.
