Meet Stewart Squires, author of 'Ironstone Mining in the Lincolnshire Wolds' published by the SLHA
This new publication explores the history of the development, growth and closure of the mines at Claxby and Nettleton. It describes the machinery and tells of the miners, the risks they took, and how they worked and relaxed. It is a human story of exploration, innovation and hard physical work that has left a legacy to be seen in today’s still beautiful landscape.Everyone is very welcome to come along to the launch and meet Stewart Squires, the author of this interesting and well- illustrated book to be published just in time for Christmas.
As a special introductory offer the book will be offered for sale until 31st December 2017 at the special price of only £12.00. In the New Year the price of the book will be £15.00.
Caistor Heritage Centre will be open from 10.00am onwards for the Book Launch and the café will be open for refreshments. The formal launch will take place at 11.00am and Stewart will be at the Centre until 2.00pm.
