Go Figurative Real: Figurative art gets Real
Another first from the worlds first dedicated online figurative art gallery
January 27th 2010, London: Go Figurative, the first online community and gallery exclusively for figurative art, today announces another first: its inaugural exhibition, Real. The exhibition will be hosted at Heatherleys Fine Art School in Londons Chelsea, from 19th to 21st March, with a private view on 18th March.
Using old-fashioned bricks and mortar to bring its exclusively web-based platform to figurative art enthusiasts, the founding team at Go Figurative believe that this new world meets old world proposition offers both buyers and artists the best of both worlds:
We have now built-up a thriving online community, but we recognise that many people still want to see art in the flesh. Parallels can be drawn with the music industry where up and coming artists are using the web to great effect matched with live performances. Real is the first in a series of shows, and we believe that this virtual meets real world model is what the market has been waiting for. said Sally Perry, Co Founder and Director
Go Figurative aims for figurative artists to benefit from the web, just like music artists. Our founding principles are to be helpful, accessible and transparent. We believe that the established market for figurative art is far too opaque. As such, we try to make access easier for artists wishing to establish themselves and for buyers wishing to browse, research and acquire figurative art - at reasonable and transparent prices, adds Janine Collins, Co Founder and Director.
Go Figurative will include innovative features facilitated by this virtual-meets-real world approach: Firstly, all art to be exhibited at Real will be shown in a preview gallery on www.gofigurative.com; additionally, all registrants will receive a downloadable discount voucher for £25 for use at Real. There will also be a virtual gallery at Real featuring a range of chosen art from across the world.
Such is the teams aim to refashion the figurative art market, that they have developed a guiding mantra - 3D: 3D is the means by which we will move the market. We aim to Demystify, Disintermediate and Democratize the figurative art market, removing the barriers between artists and buyers and fostering an atmosphere of inclusivity, not exclusivity. We want to provide a way into the art world for everyone. explained Peter Clements, Director.
Real will comprise a wide range of contemporary figurative art, including works by Keren Luchtenstein, Nicholas Phillips, and Suzie Zamit. More than 120 artworks will be on display from over 30 artists from the UK, mainland Europe and the US. All work will is for sale.
