Phantom of the Opera: Andrew Lloyd Webber's best known musical, The Phantom of the Opera, tells the dramatic story of a musical genius with a deformed face and his obsession with a chorus girl. Based on the French novel by Gaston Leroux, Lloyd Webber's version debuted in the West End in 1986.

It has since become the second-longest-running West End musical. The Phantom is feared in the Paris Opera House, where he resides, and is thought to be a ghost as he is never seen, only heard.

When The Phantom sees chorus girl, Christine, he is instantly besotted.

When The Phantom fears he will lose Christine to the man she has fallen for, he will do anything to make her his eternal bride. This multi-award winning hit is a story of lust and is 'a gorgeous operatic extravaganza that is a thrill to the blood and a sensual feast for the eye', according to the Sunday Express.

Phantom of the Opera: Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber Lyrics by Charles Hart , based on Gaston Lerouxs gothic novel. This haunting musical traces the tragic love story of a beautiful opera singer and a young composer shamed by his physical appearance into a shadowy existence beneath the majestic Opera Paris House.

Phantom of the Opera at Her Majestys Theatre in London, Greater London on Thursday, 09 October 1986.
