Science Museum, London, Greater London, SW72DD

Science Museum: The Science Museum is the worlds pre-eminent science museum. It houses outstanding collections relating to science, technology and medicine, and is one of the most prestigious and respected organisations dedicated to the promotion of public science and technology. Our collections form an enduring record of scientific, technological, engineering and medical change since the eighteenth century.

The Science Museum has over 300,000 objects in its care, covering the entire history of western science, technology and medicine. The objects are historic artefacts and sources of evidence for science, technology and industry dating from prehistoric times to the present day. They vary in size from very large (such as airliners and industrial machinery) to extremely small (for example microchips and semiconductors). The objects also vary in complexity from simple hand tools to complex computers.

Admission to the Science Museum is now free for everyone!

We are open seven days a week, from 10.00 to 18.00. The Museum is closed from 24 to 26 December

A self-service restaurant, the cafe is open every day, 10.00 to 17.30. Sandwiches, salads, home made cakes, hot and cold drinks are served all day; hot food is available 12.00 to 15.00.

The Museum Ticket Plan issued on entry to the Museum shows the position of stairs, lifts, ramps, eating areas and toilets. Museum staff are on hand to give assistance and can also provide help with the lifts for groups of visitors. A large print access and facilities guide is also available on entry to the Museum.
