This year’s congress comes to Edinburgh with the theme Psychiatry without Borders and a program featuring 80 symposia and masterclasses and 14 keynotes lectures covering a wide range of subjects including cutting-edge science, clinical practice, mental health policy, neuropsychiatry psychopharmacology and so much more.
Keynote speakers include Prof Karl Deisseroth winner of the 2016 Massry Prize and pioneer of Optogenetics; Prof Richard Morris, winner of the 2015 Brain Prize and renowned for his work on the neural basis of memory; Dame Stephanie "Steve" Shirley, IT pioneer and philanthropist who you may have seen on TED talks will talk about her campaigning work on autism.
We also have Prof Mona Siddiqui, Professor of Islamic and Inter religious studies, Dr Anita Everett, President of the American Psychiatric Association; Deborah Bull, CBE, writer, BBC broadcaster and former creative director of the Royal Opera House; Prof Anthony David; Prof Michael King; Prof Ian Deary of Edinburgh on Healthy Cognitive Ageing along with Professor Rachel Yehuda, Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Traumatic Stress Studies at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Last but not least, we will hear from our President, Sir Simon Wessely and Jo Lyall, whose reputation as a powerful and persuasive voice of the patient experience precedes her.
In addition to these keynotes, the real strength of the Congress has always been the wide range of parallel sessions presented by an international faculty and the 2017 menu is even richer than before.
Do have a quick browse of the programme on the website to fully appreciate its breadth and strength.
